The $399 million project will contribute to the Port of Seattle’s goal of becoming the greenest and most energy efficient port in North America.
Turner Construction Company was awarded a contract to expand C Concourse at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). The project will cost $399 million and upgrade the airport experience for travelers.
The passenger-centric project will add dining and retail options as well as offer amenities such as an interfaith prayer and meditation room and a nursing suite. The concourse will also be home to a 20,000 square foot Alaska Airlines lounge, enabling travelers to relax in style.
The project will contribute to the Port of Seattle’s goal of becoming the greenest and most energy efficient port in North America, where the health of the environment and the well-being of travelers is paramount. Fossil fuel free systems will be used for heating, tenant hot water, and cooking. Sustainable and efficient features will conserve energy and water use including a rooftop solar array, electrochromic glazing on windows, and water efficient fixtures.
“We understand the importance of this project and the difference we can make by implementing sustainable building strategies into the expansion of this terminal,” said Bill Ketcham, Vice President and General Manager, Turner Construction Company. “We will achieve goals for the utilization of underrepresented business enterprises on the project and look forward to hiring people from the community to build a beautiful new gateway to the community.”
The expansion will increase the size of C Concourse from 80,000 square feet to over 226,000 square feet. Construction will begin in early 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2027.
