The HOCHTIEF Building Frankfurt branch has finished the shell construction of Südzucker’s new administration headquarters in downtown Mannheim. The turnkey project will be completed by the end of 2014 and the topping-out is being celebrated today. The contract is worth over 40 million euros for HOCHTIEF.
The new administration building with up to eight staggered floors and a four-level underground parking garage for 251 cars, is being built beside the company’s headquarters. An existing neighboring building is being revitalized; two stories are being added, and the architecture integrated into the overall ensemble. Once completed the two sections of the building will have a gross floor area of 28,500 square meters.
"Since the start of shell construction, we have used 14,000 cubic meters of concrete and 1,800 tons of steel," says HOCHTIEF Project Manager Bernd Brandt. In spite of the complex downtown construction site logistics and the challenges that foundation work presented owing to the high water table, the project is fully on schedule.
