Executive Quotes:
From Rick Cunningham, Senior Vice President of Development at Margaritaville: “At Margaritaville, we carefully and thoughtfully choose which markets to enter and are excited to build upon our footprint in the Midwest region with Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City. Kansas City is a lively destination and we look forward to investing in and becoming a dedicated part of the community.”
From Greg Maday, Co-Owner of Homefield: “Over the years, as I drove by the defunct Schlitterbahn Waterpark on my way to Sporting KC matches, I found it upsetting that the symbol of a tragic time was still looming so large in the landscape when the area around it seemed to be moving forward. The region deserved better. Fast forward years later and we have razed the waterpark, recently finished an eight-field all-turf baseball complex, and will soon complete the state-of-the-art, $60 million, 150,000 square foot indoor multi-sport Homefield Wyandotte facility, just to name a few. Along with fellow Homefield partners Trey Bowen, Mathew Bowen, and Richard Napper, I couldn’t be more excited to add Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City to the Homefield development in early 2025. The turnaround we envisioned has ever-increasing energy and the community is getting the fine development they deserve.”
From Mark Moberly, Partner & Director of Real Estate Development at Sunflower Development Group, LLC: "The opening of Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City will be an exciting part of Kansas City’s incredible momentum over the past few years, which has included being named a FIFA World Cup 2026 host city, featured as one of the “20 Best Places to Visit in 2024” by The Wall Street Journal, included on The New York Times’ “52 Places To Go in 2024” list, named by Travel + Leisure as a “50 Best Places to Travel in 2024,” and highlighted as one of ten cities in the world to visit by Lonely Planet. Sunflower Development Group is proud to work alongside our Homefield partners in delivering this very unique, fun, and relaxing asset to the Kansas City community and surrounding region."
From Karen Hogan, Vice President and General Manager at Turner Construction Company: “We’re thrilled to partner with Homefield KC and Sunflower Development Group to construct the new Homefield multi-sport complex, opening in Spring 2024, and the new Margaritaville Hotel, which will be the place to be in KCK in 2025. As one of the leading sports and hospitality builders in the country, it's an honor to bring that expertise as we build state-of-the-art facilities for our youth in KC and provide top-notch hospitality for visitors as they come to enjoy our great city for years to come.”
