Together with its subsidiary HOCHTIEF Energy Management, HOCHTIEF Solutions has signed a cooperation agreement with IBM Site and Facilities Services – IBM’s data center segment – to optimize third-party data centers. The companies will be working together in the future on the refurbishment and modernization of existing data centers in various industries. The main priority of this retrofitting will be the supply of energy and energy efficiency.
The focus of this joint approach is on optimizing existing data centers that are coming to the end of their life-cycle. The entire energy requirement structure of these data centers will be analyzed, in particular with regard to their energy supply and cooling systems. HOCHTIEF Solutions and IBM will act as consultants, planners, project managers and general contractors for data centers on these joint projects. Both partners are contributing more than 25 years of expertise. HOCHTIEF Energy Management will contractually guarantee savings for the client by means of energy contracting. The advantage for the client is that both IT know-how and knowledge relating to structural and energy services are provided from a single source. During their collaboration the partners will be concentrating on data centers with a power level of over 500 kilowatts.
