DHL moves to Budapest Airport Business Park

  • DHL Global Forwarding is the first tenant in the office complex
  • DHL Freight will follow in December
  • DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL relocated to its new premises situated in Budapest Airport Business Park today. 3,000 sq meters of office space and 7,800 sq meters of warehouse are at the company’s disposal.

    "Before year‘s end further DHL unit will move into the same business centre, which will strengthen synergies, contribute to a more effective operation and further improvement of our services. When choosing our new facility it was substantial for us to find a site near the airport and also easily accessible through public roads" - told Zoltán Rezsek, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding.

    150 employees of the company - operated formerly in Vecsés - started their work on the new site this morning and around 80 employees of DHL Freight will join them at the end of the year. The newly completed building offers a significantly larger warehouse capacity for the companies.

    "Budapest Airport is proud to welcome the first long-term tenants of the Airport Business Park in the crew of DHL Global Forwarding. Global Forwarding is DHL‘s first business unit that decided to use the airport as their base of the whole business activities - from the operations to the management." remarked René Droese, Property Director of Budapest Airport. He added: "Airports are always seen as catalysts of economic growth in their region and the same is true for Budapest Airport. With an almost 10 million Euro investment by Budapest Airport and the excellent construction work within a challenging short time frame we were able to establish a base for further growth and opportunity to create more new jobs for DHL in its airport location."

    The construction of the office block and warehouse complex started in December 2012, and the first tenant, DHL Global Forwarding moved into its offices in the newly built facility today.
