The RSA works package is part of the $11 billion Metro Tunnel, Victoria’s biggest ever public transport project.

The RSA package has a total value of around $1 billion, a portion of which will be delivered by CPB Contractors and Bombardier Transportation through an equal partnership. Revenue to CPB Contractors will be confirmed at contract execution which is expected later this year.

CIMIC Group Chief Executive Officer Adolfo Valderas said: “The Victorian Government’s delivery of the Metro Tunnel will significantly enhance the connectivity and capacity of the State’s transport network with important flow-on social and economic benefits.

“The RSA team’s combined experience and smart, sophisticated systems will support the Metro Tunnel’s delivery of safe and reliable high capacity rail services.”

CPB Contractors Managing Director Román Garrido said: “The RSA will leverage CPB Contractors’ comprehensive experience delivering brownfield rail projects for Victoria and Bombardier Transportation’s international expertise and proven high capacity signalling solutions.

“Working with MMRA and MTM, the RSA is focused on delivering a system that meets operational requirements, integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructure and improves overall network performance. Our specialised team is highly experienced in managing interfaces across major projects and will support the successful delivery of the overall Metro Tunnel Project.”

The RSA will deliver the design, supply, installation, testing, integration and commissioning activities for train and power control systems, operational control systems, and conventional and high capacity signalling.

The RSA will provide systems across almost 91km of existing operational rail corridor and through the new 9km twin tunnels and work with Metro Tunnel’s ‘Tunnel & Stations’ Public Private Partnership to deliver an integrated rail system.
